Going back to symbolism?
A few centuries ago, Martin Luther has protested against of symbolism in church which has taken place of the living faith. People where doing certain deeds to get certain privileges, as they thought, before God. This deeds where walking certain distances on your knees, or keeping silence for a time, or not sleep for a few days, well, there are so many things that, were thought, bring people "closer to God". Some people used symbolism to show their holiness in public, for example some where walking always with bended head. There are so many things that listing them would take days, and that wouldn't be a full list.
Guess what? after a few centuries, people are still replacing true faith with the symbolism. Even in modern, so called, living churches there are so much of symbolism present. I dont even need to list, just remember, how do the person behave when "spirit" is in the room? Or how do we suppose to pray? I have a question - are there any rules about this in The Bible? are there any description of "true prayer"? I meet people who dont even know Jesus as personal savior but they enjoy so called "spirit" visits during worship time. Some of them are even getting revelations and then preaching some "truth" in tongues, but at the same time they live with sexual partner without marying one, or smoke the cigarette, which actually came straight from pagan worship. If you say to me that there is nothing about cigarettes in Bible, I can tell you that cigarettes taking it's start from pagan worship and still practiced in idol worship, the same thing can be told about sexual partnership outside of marriage.
So, where do we go? To the end: "God's kingdom is like yeast that a woman works into the dough for
dozens of loaves of barley bread—and waits while the dough rises." Matt 13:33
