Our first car

After all years of carless life we finally got our first family car. This was a necessity of life here since we really live far away from shops and outer world in general, so this car is something that we needed for a long period of time.

Thank you for all your prayers since we were asking for prayers about car a few times and now see the respond. The car is not used too often at the moment - neither of us have driver license, but Irina is studying right now and I really hope that she will get license soon. So far she is training here on the base, training her weaknesses as parking, and just using to the idea of driving car. Stefan and Matvej are loving this car and they would probably sleep in it if they could.

Thank You Lord for this car!

Ride without training wheels

Yesterday Stefan saw another boy of about his age riding a bike without training wheels. Right after this event he sayed - "I can", and the same day at the evening we have removed training wheels from Stefans bike, and he "can" indeed! I was excited together with Stefan and somewhere even more than him, because I started without training wheels when I was almost 6 years old but Stefan is 4 now!

Great job my son!

“The Fiftieth Year Shall Be a Jubilee for You”

Dear friends,

Warm greetings from Restenäs. 2010 marks a milestone for YWAM International as we celebrate 50 years of existence. Celebrations will be held all over the world as Loren and Darlene Cunningham visit different bases, including Restenäs. We are calling 2010 a Year of Jubilee as we celebrate God’s faithfulness. It is also a significant year for us here at Restenäs as we celebrate our 30 years.

My new phone

I have mentioned before that I've got nice HP iPAQ 614c smartphone last year but my friend, who has got the same one, inspired me to sell it and thus exchange it for something with Open Sourced OS, like Android phone. So, we started to sell our phones and guess what, I sold mine but my friend couldnt. Well, since I sold the old phone I wanted a replacement soon and here we go - last week I've got nice T-Mobile pulse with android in it. From far away this device looks like it is iPhone, but it is not and this makes me happy. The phone has excellent characteristics for my need and 16GB memory card with it. Praise The Lord for provision!

Our Finances

A few times already we asked for prayer for our finances and this is yet another time - For life in Sweden as a family of four, we need to have at least 10000 SEK which is around 900 EUR. This is not much and is not for luxury but for normal food/cloth/rent needs. We have now about half of those money and would like to raise more.

Ywam restenas News

Here is our base December newsletter.

Dear friends,

I hope all is well with you.

How are you, and what are you learning? A friend of mine asked me this question recently. It provoked me (and maybe you too) to think and reflect. So, what am I learning?

I am learning that good, sound structure comes from the presence of God, and exists to facilitate life. I am learning that growth happens at the grass root’s level and at the edges (not the top nor the centre). I am learning to let go of control and allow room for mistakes, because without failed attempts we will not be able to perfect or develop. And, I am learning to release young, inexperienced leaders to lead, since leaders become leaders by leading.

Mac is just a computer

I have got old Apple Mac eMac computer and digging it up now. It is definately faster than my Pentium 3 from the dump place but I have to live with the older software. I can port a few programs that I used to use from Linux, but whenever I dig more into the mac, I wish it would be Linux. The machine has PowerPC CPU and that means there is no way to run windows software on it. I'm also disappointed with strictness of this machine, e.g. If it decides that my keyboard is European type there is no easy way to cheat it to US keyboard. It also has limited number of free software for it, and a lot of software designed for next generation of os x.

However, there are some positive things - first of all it boots up way faster, second UI looks pretty even though it is not as powerfull as my office desktop.

So, my conclusion - it is good machine for dayly simple tasks. Kind of large calculator. It is not suitable though for development needs and for users who likes to experiment.

Happy birthday Stefan!

Stefan is not a baby any more he is already 4 years old with his own, sometimes difficult character, his own belonings and his own, while Matvej is not there, room. Stefan was waiting for this birthday every day of the last half an year (at least) and was very surprised and disappointed that his birthday has actually ended. However, there was a cake in for of bus, there was a big bus as a present, there were a few birthday songs and a few other presents. The time is passing by. Stefan is already planning his fifth birthday.

Suitecases damaged

And the latest news - Lufthansa has decided to compensate the damage and sent money to our account. We didnt receive money yet but I believe it will come soon. Hope there will be no more disappointments on this issue.

And finally we received compensation on our account, the case dismissed.

Ok, we are finally back from Russia where we spent last two months. This was a great time to see our relatives and friends but at the same time we had a few incidents before we reached the place. To say that from very beginning of the trip we realized that we have no experience of traveling with suitcases, since we always traveled with backpacks. It was hard but we managed. Kids, o poor guys, they where soo stressed by the long travel in train (we had to spend nearly 24 hours in train from Moscow to the place) Well, I thing parents (us) where stressed even more than kids.

Happy Birthday Matvej!!!

Yes, last week my little son Matvej has celebrated his first birthday! He is one year old now! He is not as walking yet as Stefan was in his age, neither he can talk, but I can see him growing in understanding. He loves to see me coming from work, he runs to me and lifts up his hands so that I would take him on my hands. He also repeats a lot of actions of older brother Stefan. When Stefan climbs into the box, Matvej needs to do the same and he is stubborn and able to learn very complicated for him moves, to accomplish the task. Matvej loves to be with people and always smiles to them when they try to communicate with him. He is very communicative child comparing to Stefan in his age, however, too many noisy people around can scare him.Matvej is not so much into cars as his brother was and is, he just learns to play with cars but we can clearly see that it is not his favorite toy, he loves to play with the ball or something that you can through. He also like to play with someone else, not alone. So interesting to look at two kids, they are brothers, sons of the same parents, but so different characters and preferences! Stefan likes to play with Matvej and both of them enjoy this play, usually when they are together, they are quite noisy.

Hope to add some pictures later. I alway planning to do so, because I write this from my office where I dont have pictures and always want to add them when I come home, but when I actually come there, all my family want all attention.
