Text editor Geany

Today I start to describe my favorit software for my favorit operational system - Linux. The first one is programming text editor. My choice is open source editor Geany. It is based on Scintilla engine so it has all the things that Scintilla has - code highlight for several different languages, light weight of executable file, small mount of memory and CPU resources consumption, which makes this programm to run quickly on the oldish computers (I have pentium 2 for testing/development) Check their site for more screenshots, information and downloads. The link is below.

HP iPAQ 614c

Here is the phone that I liked and will see if I may purchase it. That phone can definitely be used as PDA and will have all tasks in it. Then I will be able to free some space in my pockets by removing old Palm from there. I still dont have this phone, so, I cannot really tell how good or disappointing it is, but as soon as I'll get hold of it, I'll try to describe what it can do. So far you can visit http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/HP-iPAQ-614-Review-review-r_1927.html and see review of this phone by one of the experts.

Bad hoster

As you kno, I'm a webmaster of http://ywamrestenas.se website. So, last week our hoster just removed our database without notice! The name of this hosting company is servetheworld.net This is Norwegian company. The moral of the story - dont do business with them unless you like the idea of loosing functionality of your site without ANY warning.

Web archive

Do you remember your first visit of internet? Do you remember what pages did you visit, and how they looked like? I've been introduced to the internet in beginning of 1996, remember visiting Yahoo.com and altavista.com that night. Well, resently I found the way to look back at that night and remember how was yahoo and altavista looked like in those days. Check this site yourself, there are most of the site that you have visited within last 10 years.

Linux smartphone

Just resently I looked at the mobile devices based on Linux OS and found some links on OpenMoko project which is basically mini computer with Linux OS. As with full sized desktop, users are free to choose any Linux OS suitable for mobile devices. Unfortunately this phone is still in early development version and hard to say when it will be ready for day to day usage by regular user but, this is the sign of new generation phones that will have FREE OS and will alowe to"hack" it according to users needs.

Well, I wish somebody would bless me with this phone.

My choise - Ubuntu

As I mentioned before I'm not using Windows anymore. For over an year now both my computers - office and home are using Linux as an operating system. I tried a few different distributions of Linux before I stopped on Ubuntu. I liked Debian Linux but there were a lot of things that I hade to setup manually for my notebook, however it was working faster than Ubuntu, but then I started to lookfor Debian based distribution and found Ubuntu as most suitable for my needs. There are many different Ubuntu based distros available and a few of them are designed for older systems like my notebook, so I used IceBuntu at home and normal Ubuntu at the office.

Here is the official site of the Ubuntu linux

Ask AJAX

I have always liked the approach of updating certain content on-the-fly in a web page without the need of reloading the entire content. This approach has been around for years and has fairly recently been nicknamed AJAX(Asynchronous JavaScript and XML).

For those who involved in web development will be very interesting to know that AJAX became so easy to use that even person without developer experience could use it quite easily.

Try this ajax class that only requires insertion of it's link in head section and some VERY simple modification of regular links.
