Favorite 4
Fav4 is probably the most elegant of the start pages featured here—not counting the extreme-minimalist approach of about:blank. The arrangement is simple: You visit Fav4 and click on the customize gear in the lower right hand corner. From the customization menu, you can select your four favorite sites from the roster of provided sites or suggest a new site if they don't have one of your favorites. Drag and drop the four sites of your choice onto the customization side bar, and the sites will be displayed—as seen in the screenshot above—as four large icons in your browser window.
You don't need to sign up to use the service—it saves your settings on a per-browser basis using cookies instead of requiring a login.
Give Away Every Day
The site is actually called GiveAwayOfTheDay And it does exactly what it says - It gives away all kind of software. Every day software given is different and there is a chance that you even need this software.
DropBox
Windows/Mac/Linux/iPhone only: Freeware application and web service Dropbox instantaneously backs up and syncs your files over the internet and to any computer. After you install the application, it will create a Dropbox folder on your hard drive. Any file you put inside that folder will automatically be synced and monitored for changes, and each time a change is saved, it backs up and syncs the file again. Even better, Dropbox does revision history, so if you accidentally saved a file and wanted to revert to an old version or deleted a file, Dropbox can recover any previous version. See the video above for a full demonstration.
LifeHacker
For all this time I keep forgetting to make flash review of one of my favorite sites on the web called LifeHacker. The name of this site is very cool thought through - Life is life and there is nothing to explain about it, But what about "hacker" part?

FREE hosting
Do you have your website? that you dont need this information, but if you are planning to have a site or you are hosted on one of those ad-supported hosters, i recommend you to consider one of the absolutely free hosters. Kh3.us only requires you to make as little as five posts in their forum, after which you can apply for the absolutely free bannerless cpanel hosting plans. There ar a few hosting plans available with different number of posts required and with different features. But generally speaking, you dont even need those large packs, it is absolutely enough to have basic hosting for five posts.

Web OCR
I just had a time when I needed to convert scanned photo of the document to text and usually people using for this perposes spesiall software like FineReader, but I dont have it on my computer, dont even know if it is available for linux, so, I hade to look for other solutions. And I found one!
There are a few sites on the web that offer text recognition services, and I tried two or three of them and liked only one - http://www.onlineocr.net/
Ok, they have registration which is free, and then you can upload your documents and process them converting to number of different formats including MS Word, rtf, text etc. There is also a try out window where you can test how good or bad their translation is.
I dont think you do such things as translating text from image evry day, I needed this function for the first time in whole year, there is no point for me to keep heavy text recognizer software on the computer, so, this solution is the best for me.
